Tour Highlights:

Beginning the season in February brings with it unfavorable weather conditions more often than not and Saturday was no exception to the norm. Facing overcast skies and rain, anglers blasted off at 6:09 a.m. commencing the 2012 Tour Event season. Pre tournament reports called for a heavy dose of spotted bass to dominate the day's catch.
As anticipated, the early morning yielded few clues in defining a clear pattern. Anglers reported employing multiple presentations to entice strikes from the lethargic bass in hopes of discovering their strike zone.
Mid day rain as well as a low pressure system and its effects on the bite were firmly embedded on Lake Jordan. The strke zone had noticeably shrank from a few feet to a few inches. Guys were forced to slow down and rely on patience and grind out as many strikes as possible in order to salvage what appeared to be a lack luster day.

3:30 p.m. brought about recking day as the scales officially opened to determine the day's best. Jackie Price and his 5 fish limit of 12.6 pounds would take first place followed in second place by Vincent Medlock with four bass weighing 11.7 pounds. Darryl Witherspoon grabbed third place with a five fish limit weighing 10.13 pounds. Jeff Bobb Sr. finished in fourth place with two bass weighing 6.4 pounds and the Tour Event Big Fish weighing 5.2 pounds. In fifth place was Eddie Hill with three bass weighing 5.8 pounds. Rounding out places sixth through eight were Jeff Bobb Jr. (3.8 pounds), Ron Douglas (3.3 pouunds) and Bryan Butler (1.14 pounds) respectively.
Post tournament comments paralled the prevailing thoughts of a spotted bass bite Also of interest ,some anglers reported seeing bass actively in and near beds in anticipation of the spawn which is significant because of the mild winter season and it could also signal a faster than normal pattern transition given the water temps are hovering around 53-55 degrees.
Conditions could have been a bit more favorable but that wouldn't be Goldenrods.Congratulations to all the winners and to all for another great day of bass fishing.
